Aitxa is a trolley designed for a restaurant in Madrid, created to bring a special moment to the act of serving dishes at the table. It is made of solid oak and Catalan granite. Aitxa once made a similar piece using a cable spool and pallet wood. It is my way of paying tribute to my father.
A tribute to the space, to the beams of an old flour mill, to the place now occupied by Restaurante Barro. It evokes the baserriak, and more specifically Zabalaga (Chillida Leku). Parallels and diagonals, paths that cross. A tribute to grain, and a tribute to the land. The stones of a mill, the wheels of a trolley.
I shaped it from a distance, through drawing, and completed its design by thinking with my hands, through carpentry. Barbany collaborated on the stone, rooted in Catalan territory, where the wheat that is ground by stone also grows. The granite comes from the quarry of Arnau and Julia’s grandfather, father of Jordi, who once paved the ground of Ávila with this same stone from Òrrius. Available on request.

Aitxa es un carrito realizado para un restaurante en Madrid con la finalidad de crear un momento especial al traer los platos a la mesa. Está fabricado en roble macizo y granito catalán. Aitxa hizo uno parecido con una bobina de cable y madera de palet. Es mi forma de rendirle homenaje a mi padre.
Un carrito, varios homenajes. Al espacio, a las bigas de un antiguo molino de harina, al espacio que ahora ocupa Restaurante Barro. El que me recuerda a los baserriak y en concreto a Zabalaga (Chillidaleku). Las paralelas y las diagonales, los caminos que se cruzan. Un homenaje al cereal y un homenaje al territorio. Las piedras de un molino, las ruedas de un carrito.
Proyecté la forma, tomando distancia con el dibujo, y acabe de diseñarlo, pensando con las manos, desde la carpintería. Barbany como colaboradores con la piedra, del territorio catalán, donde también crece el trigo que se muele con la piedra. El granito, de la cantera del abuelo de Arnau y Julia, el padre de Jordi, con el que una vez pavimentó el suelo de Ávila, con esta piedra de Òrrius. Disponible bajo demanda.
